I'm back because I miss writing dearly.

Dear friends,

I have finally overcome my year-long procrastination to start my own blog.

For the uninformed, I used to host my personal website on my University's (now my alma mater) Sun servers, which was free service to all students. Unfortunately, the free service does not continue with my status being upgraded to an alumni. I finally settled down with blogspot which is free, easy-to-use and also customizable (hooray!!).

So, I'm back into the internet community once again.

The main motivation for starting this blog is that I miss writing terribly. I wrote quite a lot in my previous website and received quite some positive feedback too. My personal, reflective, and occasionally academic/technical writing style must have interested or warmed the hearts of my readers :p I hope to maintain that, if not better.

While on the point of writing, let me share some thoughts on why I enjoy writing so much.

First, writing allows thoughts (ideas/opinions), which are transient in nature, to be transferred onto print matter so that analysis, reviewing and archiving can be done more easily than with everything in the brain. Okay, in other words, I have poor memory. My ideas fleet away as quickly as they are formed in my mind.

Second, writing allows wonderful ideas to be expressed and shared with others, encouraging discussion and refinement on the topic. So, feel free to comment on my blog.

Third, writing clarifies my thinking. Quoting one of my favourite Straits Times (ST) writer Mr Janadas Devan: "Writing - expository writing certainly - is in essence a machine for thinking, and the essence of thought is logic." When I write, I think; when I think, I use logic - thus.

Like in my previous website, you may find me writing about a diverse range of topics I'm puzzled or passionate about. For my non-Singaporean friends, pardon me if I sprinkle in some "lah" or "hor" and smiley :) faces. After all, that's me: a Singaporean living in the Information Age :p

For friends and loved ones. Cheers!
