CommunicAsia 2007

I have been to several fairs, mostly career and book fairs, both large and small. But I have never really been to one that's professionally organized for businesses and professionals.

My company is exhibiting our product currently at CommunicAsia 2007. I am manning one of our 3 booths we have there, with another colleague. This meant that we had to introduce, talk about, explain, interest, convince, demo and answer queries about our product.

I realise that I am really bad at marketing. I can do fairly well talking about the product, but not on the sales side.

I realise, too, that it is absolutely so difficult to hold a decent technical conversation in Mandarin. Perhaps my grasp of Mandarin has deteriorated over the years. Or perhaps I am too intimidated by the Chinese technical terms a Chinese guy was using on me. But my boss is able to converse in Mandarin quite fluently and that is amazing.

Today's the first day and quite an eye-opener it is to me. I made some brief rounds visiting other booths today. I shall make my rounds again tomorrow, then write about how professionally done up each booth is such that career and book fairs can take a cue.

PS. My company's exhibiting at the fair, Singapore Expo Hall 3, 19-22 June 2007, 10.30am - 6.00pm. We're located at NSN (Nokia Siemens Network), IDA, and A*Star booths. I'm with A*Star. Look for mBit Pte Ltd :D
This fair is for anyone interested in the mobile/communications industry, bring along your business card for registration! :-)

Back from Oz

Greetings everyone! I'm back from the land Down Under.

For me to write this, it shows that I didn't get very lost at the domestic airport terminals, hee hee.

I had a wonderful time there, visiting friends and relatives and friends of friends and friends of relatives and relatives of friends and... my oh my, I never expected to meet so many people there. I guess people there are just mighty friendly.

It's been 10 years since I last visited AUS with my school. Gosh, 10 years! I remember telling everyone how much I would love to go back, perhaps as a backpacker or to caravan around the country. I did none of these, but I definitely visited it a second time!

I can probably only manage a short note here as I've been swarmed with work since the day I got back to SG. To make matters worse, I fell sick (which is the reason why I am at home now and able to type this).

Well, I love Sydney the most, as a city. It's got the most beautiful weather and the prettiest harbour. I wouldn't miss the chance to work there if I ever get to.

I love Adelaide's peaceful environment (yes Karen, it's absolutely the most excellent place to focus on studying haa), and.. the Cibo cafe! Karen, you really got me hooked onto coffee once again ok :P

I love Melbourne's... shopping, even though I didn't get to shop that much! And, of course, the sugary sweet Krispy Kreme donuts, thanks very much to dear Grace for bringing me there ;-)

A great big THANK YOU to all who've given such great hospitality and warmth when we were there. Will put up some nice pictures in my next post. Till then, wish me a speedy recovery *cough cough*. And also, a speedy recovery to my bank account :-(
